Rain is a mercy from Allah (swt). When I first heard this, I thought about all the times I didn’t like the rain, or think that it made me feel depressed. How horrible it was for me to think this way. When I pondered over it, it made sense, and I realized what a true blessing rain really is. I dislike it when I hear people complaining about the rain, and how wet they get. When I hear things from an Islamic perspective, it snaps back the logic in me (as if it was missing or something..sad), and my mindset completely changes. I have now grown to like the cold, rainy weather. I appreciate the water on my face, and I love the cold weather as a hijabi. Another great thing to add in to the usefullness of it.
. The same goes for hot weather. When I went on my trip back to Pakistan in the summer of ‘07. I thought I was just going for a couple brief family reuinions and culture shocks. But the weather caught me off guard. The first step out of the sweaty airport was a breath of fresh, no not air. HUMIDITY. I felt as if I was stepping into an oven. At first, I acted like a brat and complained about it, but then I realized, man we have got it GOOD back at home!
. SubhanAllah, so many things to be grateful for when you go to a developing country that has A/C in only one room in the whole house. We drank lemonade all day long, and seldom had to go to the bathroom because we’d just sweat it out. hahaha. hilarious, and a bit scary. In all seriousness, be grateful for what you really have, for whatever position or situation you’re in, don’t just remember the bad parts, for indeed, there’s always more bad than good. And there’s always sunshine after the rain.
I thought of the exact same thing when it rained yesterday and I came out of jumma without an umberalla. I like your blog so far. okay bint Hashmat I’m out.
